Some love it, some hate it and no matter what side of the fence you are on, there are 10 sure fire ways to mess up Valentine’s Day for your special someone. Here are the 10 biggest Valentine’s Day mistakes.

1. Show up to your destination… without a RESERVATION! If you are going to plan something special, be sure not to forget the “planning” aspect.
2. Pick up your date empty handed. It doesn’t have to be the typical flowers and teddy bear, but make sure you have something in your hand when they open the door. Starting the night off with negative points won’t get you anywhere.
3. Give as a gift the giant stuffed animal you won at the carnival. Even the little one, just DON’T DO IT! It will end up being regifted to a kid the very next day.

4. For you ladies, do not have multiple flowers from multiple guys show up at your house… especially if you live with one of the guys. Even it is just a friendly gesture, no guy want’s his girlfriend/spouse receiving flowers from another guy on Valentine’s Day.
5. Give an extremely sentimental gift to someone who is absolutely not sentimental. You will the fake “thank you so much” line and never live that day down.
6. Spell your Valentine’s name wrong on the card. Even if you had the florist write it, no excuse! People hate it when you spell their name wrong, especially if you are trying to impress them.
7. Ordering the most expensive item on the menu just to realize you want to cut the night short and go home early. That is evil, don’t do it.
8. Give a gift that you know is something the person “needs”. Valentine’s Day is not the time to give gifts they need! Maybe less so for guys, because who doesn’t want power tools? But for the ladies, don’t buy them a fresh pack of Hanes socks because you noticed she had a hole in the toe on her overused pair. That won’t make the night more interesting.
9. Giving a gift wrapped in a ring sized jewerly box. Unless it is a ring, you better not wrap anything in a ring box. That is a for sure way to break a girls heart in the beginning of the date.

10. Try to explain how you do not want to celebrate Valentine’s Day because it is such a commercial holiday. You don’t have to give in to the commercialism, but you better plan an alternative activity to show that you appreciate your special someone. Otherwise it is simply laziness getting out of Valentine’s Day.
